Tag Swap

Another tag swap I participated in this month.

Here is the Moodboard…

I took inspiration from the colours, the letters and the idea that Lady Gaga is a big voice that is very empowered and stands up for her what she believes in.  She isn’t anyones puppet.

I focused on the message that I wanted to portray this time round rather than any heavy texture or media.  This Viva Las VegaStamp! was perfect.  I also had the initial idea to be cutting the strings with scissors but I didn’t have any stamps or chipboard pieces in my stash.  I came across this saw and thought, yep it’s a little drastic, would make a mess but cutting strings is what it is all about.

Masculine Mixed Media Card

Today I am sharing a Masculine Card I made. The card I created I wanted to be very neutral.  What I mean by neutral is Occasion neutral.  Something that is clearly masculine but could be used for any thing.  This is what I came up with….

It’s not secret I love grunge.  So I created a grungy embossed background that I then layered embossed chipboard over the top before adding a stamped fussy cut image.

The Colour Blast Embossing Powder is super shiny and difficult to photograph.

As for the stamped man, he is from A Stampers Anonymous collection of stamps I recently purchased with this task in mind. I coloured him using the new Colour Blast Shimmer Powders.  I’m not much into fussy cutting but I think I might do it more often as it is a great way to use your stamps.

I am the Machine | Mixed Media Colour Blast DT Share

Today I am sharing my most recent layout for Colour Blast Australia.  This layout is made up of a whole heap of scraps, colours, chipboard, stamping and that’s about all.

I literally used scraps to build my base.   You can read all about it on the Colour Blast blog.

Wild at Heart | Altered Canvas for Colour Blast Australia

Today I am sharing an altered canvas that I have created back in July but I have been saving it until now to share.  It turned out pretty good and the whole process was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.  The hardest thing is waiting for layers to dry.

For this project, I decided to give photo transfer a go.  The only thing is I don’t have a printer at home so I asked my husband to print a photo at work with a laser printer.  He wasn’t sure if he had one and I am still not sure the print was printed on a laser printer as the actual transfer process didn’t work as easy as the tutorials I watched on YouTube.

I added heaps of recycled embellishments and bits that I had been hoarding to this canvas.  I really love the depth of texture and details.

Here you can see a bottle cap and some of the chipboard and lace embellishments under all the colour.

I left all the tails of the hot glue gun as I liked what they added to the finished piece.  They look a lot like threads all over or even cobwebs.  No need to dust it later on 😛

I used a whole heap of Colour Blast Products on this piece.  I used Colour Sprays, Shimmer Sprays, Embossing powder and the Texture paste.  Every product added a little bit more to the piece.

Here’s a tip: The Colour Paste can also be added directly to metal embellishments without any need to prime them.  Here you can see I added it to this metal butterfly.

I then added black and white drawing ink splatters and a bit of Royalty Colour Shimmer Spray in splatters to tone down the white. ( I went a little cray cray) Finally I added some more metal embellishments and a quote cut into strips.  The quote is from the very first Kit the Habit Kit called Brave.  That was one of my favourite kits.  The other thing I did was add a chipboard title.  This one is from Imaginarium Designs.  I coated it in two layers of Bling Embossing Powder to make sure it was super shiny and really stood out.

I have wanted to make one of these for ages.  They look more complicated than they actually are.  So give it a go.  I also created a process video you can check out here.

Altered Art | Jack Skellington Inspired for Colour Blast Design Team

Remember when I shared my first Altered Paint brush and I said I was addicted?  Well today I am sharing another.  Today it’s Nightmare before Christmas – Jack Skellington Altered Paint Brush.

The process is very much the same as the first one. There is a process video up on Popleopod on YouTube you can check out if your interested.

But here are a few close ups.

I really love making these and I have so many more ideas I can’t wait to make and share them.

Just incase you are wondering – Who is Jack Skellington? This is a bit of a run down. – “Jack Skellington is a fictional character and the protagonist of the 1993 film The Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack is the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town and lives in a fantasy world based solely on the Halloween holiday.  Jack  is the patron spirit of Halloween, the ghost skeleton of a spider, portrayed as being on par with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny within his own holiday. As a living skeleton, he is immortal and can remove parts of his body without harm, as is often demonstrated for comic relief. He is the most important of many Halloween spirits, with the implication that their job is to scare people in the real world on Halloween night. The only one who understands Jack’s feelings is a lonely and attractive ragdoll named Sally.” ~wikipedia

Husbands are like wine | Flutterby Designs DT Layout

Today is my last share for this term of the Flutterby Designs Design Team. I am sharing another layout using the NEW Mad about You range and I designed it all around the card- “Husbands are like wine. They take a long time to mature”.  This layout features my brother and his partner and the card suited them and this photo to a T.

Here is my layout:

Christmas Special #1 | Seasons Greeting Layout

This layout is featured on this quarters – Creative Paper Craft Magazine.  My second cover this year.  To say I am freaking excited is a total understatement!  Any how I created this one a while ago but now it is finally in print I can share it and all the details.

I created this layout to show case the wrapping paper I saved from one of the kids presents last year.  I am a Scrapbooking. I have a problem when it comes to throwing away beautiful papers even if they are torn and have served their purpose.  This black piece of paper was just trimmed to fit the layout length ways.  I left the torn edge – I things like that.  It’s a bit more visual than straight edges.  I kept the whole layout simple.  One big 5×7 photo simply matted on the same red cardstock the background is matted on.  I then added a bit of embellishment to 2 opposite corners of the frame.

To the top corner I used two different green coloured straws to create a corner frame and then I added a Kaisercraft Holly wood Veneer to the top and a Funky Flairs Studio flair to the top.  To the bottom corner I made a similar green straws frame and added a Charms Creations Christmas Tree.  I have been hoarding these little guys. They are so cute.

The title Seasons Greetings is a Diecut that I have had in the bottom of my Christmas box for a couple of years.  I have no idea what collection it is.  To finish the layout I added a little bit of bling.  It is Christmas after all – some Gold Heidi Swapp Colour Shine, Green sequins and a D-lish Scraps Red Sequin bow.  Done.  Simple and it screams CHRISTMAS
