This months challenge at Scrap the Girls is a bit of a different one. It’s all about Grey
And this is my take…
This is a photo of my friend, Sarah, and I at the 50 Shade Darker movie. I thought it was fitting.
Here are a few close ups too.
This is my favourite moodboard of the last six months.
When I put this moodboard together I had an idea for a layout but I had no idea what photo I could use or how I could use it. Then this layout came about. I absolutely love it so much.
Today I am sharing my take on the Scrap the Girls Sketch Challenge this month.
I am not one to use a lot of flowers so I changed it up a bit and moved the sketch down a little to create my layout.
I used watercolours and Colour Blast Shimmer dusts as my base to this layout and then I added Colour Blast Colour Paste and Flutterby Designs Flutter Paint over the top. I have had a hard time with photographing my layouts lately so that is why this layout doesn’t look as bright as I would like. I tried two separate times to take some decent photos but the summer sun and stained glass windows have not helped my cause. I have lights too believe it or not. Time to add some new ones I think.
Anyways here are some progress shots.
First – watercolour.
Then some Colour Blast Colour Paste applied with a palette knife.
Then a squeeze of Flutterby Colour Paint over the top.
Here are a few close ups of the finished product. The hardest part of this layout was waiting for the Flutterby Paint to dry. I didn’t want it to bubble so you have to let it dry naturally or with very little heat.
Here are a few close ups too:
Today I am sharing a layout that I created for this months Scrap the Girls Moodboard. This year, I have taken creative control of the moodboards now that I am understand running the challenge blog a lot better and am not so overwhelmed with the process. I put this moodboard together knowing that May is mothers day month. I was initially inspired by the wire. Here is the moodboard:
So I decided to play with some wire to make a mother and child. Then I used it on a mixed media background with a photo of my first born daughter and I when she was just six days old.
Here is my take on the challenge:
There is a process video too you can watch it below. Wire is fun to work with, a technique I will definitely be trying again.

This layout was in hiding as it was accepted for print by the change over of publishers was a big mess. I have been given the all clear to share. I created this layout over a year ago.
This challenge was an easy one – Kraft + Travel + Map. We spent two years living abroad and travelling before we got married so I have plenty of travel photos to choose from. This is a selfie taken at the Colosseum in Rome.
All my maps are glued into a smash book so I emailed my husband at work and asked him to print off one for me. Both in colour and black and white. This is the only one he came home with so, I had to work with it. I’ve used it like a matte behind my photo but I also matted it to make it a bit of a focus.
How awesome is the leather strap tape that I picked up the other day. I should have got more. And the Flutterbys Flair is just perfect.
…This post was originally published in January 2016 but I had to recall it as this layout got picked up for publishing. In keeping with their requirements, I had to withdraw this layout from social media until 1 month clear of publishing. I am now in the all clear to share it again…
I’ve realised that around the third week of my blog it’s a little quiet but don’t worry there’s plenty to come.
Today I’m sharing all Australia Day layout I’ve created for Charms Creations Australia Day Challenge.
This photo is of my son I took last year and have had printed and sitting on my desk all that time. Finally, I worked out what to do with it.
I’ve created my background using chalks and I also altered a DIY Charms Creations map marker that way too. I added some hand stitching and so rub ons I’ve been saving for a very long time and I don’t know why. The flair is from my stash and the opera house card is a Project Life card.
It turned out way better than I expected.
I will also have a video up on YouTube very soon so head over and subscribe so you don’t miss it.
