Our Mixed Media Moods

This months Our Mixed Media Moods moodboard is one that features a bit of mustard.

I had some ideas for what I wanted to create but then I watched DeeDee’s process video and I forgot and all I could think about was her awesome interpretation of the statue.

After a few days of thinking, I gathered my thoughts and started on a background.

After a few more layers and a bit of detail…this was my finished piece.

I took inspiration from the Mustard and Black colours, the mood image, the mushroom and the sticks.

Here is a close up too.

Tag Art Swap

Just another quick share today, this months Funky Flair Studio Art Swap.

This is this months Moodboard

And these are my takes on the challenge.  I had a few ideas and I wanted to try them all out so there are a few extras.

These are them close up.

And here is a close up of the tag I decided to swap.

Our Mixed Media Moods

I cut it fine this month with my take on this months Our Mixed Media Moodboard.

Here is the moodboard…

And here is my take on this moodboard.  I took inspiration from the coloured squares, the papaua shells, the paint brush and the drift wood star. Oh and the string.  Pretty much every thing.

I have had this piece of driftwood on my desk for a long time, just waiting for the right project.  And it finally has a home.

Here are a few close ups.

Masculine Mixed Media Card

Today I am sharing a Masculine Card I made. The card I created I wanted to be very neutral.  What I mean by neutral is Occasion neutral.  Something that is clearly masculine but could be used for any thing.  This is what I came up with….

It’s not secret I love grunge.  So I created a grungy embossed background that I then layered embossed chipboard over the top before adding a stamped fussy cut image.

The Colour Blast Embossing Powder is super shiny and difficult to photograph.

As for the stamped man, he is from A Stampers Anonymous collection of stamps I recently purchased with this task in mind. I coloured him using the new Colour Blast Shimmer Powders.  I’m not much into fussy cutting but I think I might do it more often as it is a great way to use your stamps.

There is a process video that goes along with this card too you can check it out here

A Bowie Inspired Tag Swap.

This month I only participated in one tag swap.  The other is on a break to give everyone a chance to recover from Christmas. I was a bit disappointed to start with as I really enjoy making tags, but as the Christmas season recovery started I was grateful.  I was feeling a bit behind this month, having my husband home on holidays really messes with our routine and my Scrapping time.

Anyways, I am back on top and here is the moodboard:

I took inspiration from the Bowie picture and the words.  I teamed them with my Viva Las VegaStamps! and some Donna Downey words and a bit of free hand work and this is what I came up with.

This is what the skeleton started out as…

It’s pretty amazing how versatile some things are when you think out side of the box.

I added a little texture in the form of Colour Blast Colour Paste…

Hopefully, my swap partner likes it.

Helmar Creative share | Criteria : Penguin

Yep I drew a crazy theme this month for my Helmar Creative Share – Penguins.

So this is what I came up with:

It’s a little container and the hat is the lid.  It’s a pretty cute gift container.

For a full the full process details head over and check out the Helmar Blog and leave me some love.

Altered Art | Jack Skellington Inspired for Colour Blast Design Team

Remember when I shared my first Altered Paint brush and I said I was addicted?  Well today I am sharing another.  Today it’s Nightmare before Christmas – Jack Skellington Altered Paint Brush.

The process is very much the same as the first one. There is a process video up on Popleopod on YouTube you can check out if your interested.

But here are a few close ups.

I really love making these and I have so many more ideas I can’t wait to make and share them.

Just incase you are wondering – Who is Jack Skellington? This is a bit of a run down. – “Jack Skellington is a fictional character and the protagonist of the 1993 film The Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack is the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town and lives in a fantasy world based solely on the Halloween holiday.  Jack  is the patron spirit of Halloween, the ghost skeleton of a spider, portrayed as being on par with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny within his own holiday. As a living skeleton, he is immortal and can remove parts of his body without harm, as is often demonstrated for comic relief. He is the most important of many Halloween spirits, with the implication that their job is to scare people in the real world on Halloween night. The only one who understands Jack’s feelings is a lonely and attractive ragdoll named Sally.” ~wikipedia
