Wild at Heart | Altered Canvas for Colour Blast Australia

Today I am sharing an altered canvas that I have created back in July but I have been saving it until now to share.  It turned out pretty good and the whole process was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.  The hardest thing is waiting for layers to dry.

For this project, I decided to give photo transfer a go.  The only thing is I don’t have a printer at home so I asked my husband to print a photo at work with a laser printer.  He wasn’t sure if he had one and I am still not sure the print was printed on a laser printer as the actual transfer process didn’t work as easy as the tutorials I watched on YouTube.

I added heaps of recycled embellishments and bits that I had been hoarding to this canvas.  I really love the depth of texture and details.

Here you can see a bottle cap and some of the chipboard and lace embellishments under all the colour.

I left all the tails of the hot glue gun as I liked what they added to the finished piece.  They look a lot like threads all over or even cobwebs.  No need to dust it later on 😛

I used a whole heap of Colour Blast Products on this piece.  I used Colour Sprays, Shimmer Sprays, Embossing powder and the Texture paste.  Every product added a little bit more to the piece.

Here’s a tip: The Colour Paste can also be added directly to metal embellishments without any need to prime them.  Here you can see I added it to this metal butterfly.

I then added black and white drawing ink splatters and a bit of Royalty Colour Shimmer Spray in splatters to tone down the white. ( I went a little cray cray) Finally I added some more metal embellishments and a quote cut into strips.  The quote is from the very first Kit the Habit Kit called Brave.  That was one of my favourite kits.  The other thing I did was add a chipboard title.  This one is from Imaginarium Designs.  I coated it in two layers of Bling Embossing Powder to make sure it was super shiny and really stood out.

I have wanted to make one of these for ages.  They look more complicated than they actually are.  So give it a go.  I also created a process video you can check out here.

This Moment | DT Share Scrap the Girls

Just a quick share today, this months Scrap the Girls challenge stumped me for a while and it is my challenge.  This is it here:

January 2017 Insta.jpg

After much thinking and changing my ideas many times this is what I came up with:

img_4660

I had to add a bit of mixed media to the background to soften the crazy patterned paper.  Then I added some stamping over the top that I embossed with gold “Bling” embossing powder from Colour Blast.  It was very hard to photograph.  You can kind of see it here.

Then I painted my chipboard pieces with Blue Dylusions paint and embossed over the top in more “Bling” Colour Blast Embossing Powder.

Layouts That Didn’t Make the Cut | An honest share.

Just a quick share from me today.  As you know I was a Guest Designer over with Imaginarium Designs for the past six months.  My time there is now finished but I wanted to share a few layouts that I didn’t think made the cut.  They are ok layouts but to me, they are not my best work so I decided to hold them back and create something else in their place.  I guess the reason that I am sharing this is to show that not every layout meets our personal expectations and rather than dwell on it, I just put them to the side and move on.  I tend to think that I am better vesting my energy elsewhere rather than dwelling.

Here is the first one:

DSC01446.JPG

This layout is ok.  I used a darker photo because it told the story.  It is a full family selfie after my husband had returned home from a 10 day work trip.  We don’t get full selfies very often so it was important for me to capture this in a layout.  Because of the photo and the glare the page didn’t photograph very well not matter what I tried so I decided I wouldn’t use it.  Straight into the album it went.

Here are a couple of close ups of the details:

The next layout, I was experimenting with some paper layering of Napkins and a more vintage feel. Flowers are not really my favourite thing and everytime I look at this layout I don’t think it has the finished feel to it but I wasn’t sure what else to add to it.  Rather than wasting time thinking about it I decided to put it aside and I would come back to it one day when I know where I wanted it to go.

Finally there is this layout.  It is a photo from my daughters first birthday.  Over the past year I have scrapped a few different photos from this day.  This layout is finished, I am ok with how it looks but for some reason I decided it wasn’t quite design team worthy.  I think maybe because gold is such a hard colour to photograph in real life and I couldn’t get it to look right in the photos.

So, there it is…My shitty layouts that will go into my album but didn’t make the design team cut from my perspective.  I have an expectation of my layouts that I share especially representing the companies that I do. But most of all, I want to be proud of them knowing that they are a true representation of me and my style.

Art Journal | My Epic Fairytale Life

This is one of a set of three art Journals that I created in a series that I call Domestic Goddess.  Not only was the paper range called that but the name fit the titles I chose to use.   This journal is the first I created in the series and it was picked up for publishing by Scrapbooking Memories Magazine – You can read all about it in last months issue.IMG_2538

But here are a few close ups incase you missed it

Guest Design Share | Imaginarium Designs

I have been making Art Journals again.  This time I used some old Graphic 45 papers that I had been hoarding.  This collection was called Le Cirque.  It was the first Graphic 45 collection i got hold of and fell in love with.  Graphic 45 is not everyone’s cup of tea it can be a little dark but I absolutely love it so much.

I won’t go into all the details you can read about it on the Imaginarium Designs Blog here.

But here is my finished journal and a few close ups.  This one will be available for sale in my Sale folder on Facebook.

Imaginarium Designs – Guest Design Team Share

Just a quick one today to share another Journal from my “Domestic Goddess” series that  I did.  You saw one that I gifted to my dear friend Sue, one that was featured in Scrapbooking Memories Magazine and this is the first one of the series.  It featured so much Chipboard from Imaginarium Designs that it just had to feature as one of my Guest Designer Blog posts.

Here it is here:

Anna’s Craft Cupboard Mini Challenge – Halloween

Well, I can tell you it is definitely the only time I have ever scrapped so many halloween-y photos.  Yes, I have another one today.  This is the last lot, I don’t have any left that I can think of.  This layout is for the Anna’s Craft Cupboard mini Challenge.

So, this photo is one of me and only me.  That is very rare.  It was taken before we had kids – that is why.  My husband was away in China for work and I wasn’t due to fly over and meet up with him for another week. My mum and dad always attend a childhood friends annual Halloween party and I was invited so I didn’t have to sit at home alone. It was very last minute so I threw together an outfit that consisted of a red corset and my wedding dress skirt and teased my hair BIG.  (I will never, ever, ever do that again!!)

This is the only photo I have of the event – a selfie I sent to my husband.  This was back before I had an Iphone.  It would be a lot different these days.

Anyways, that’s the back story behind the photo.

Here is my layout:

img_3877

This layout is a lot of layers.  There is sprays and stencils, stamping, paint, paper layers and chipboard.  I am in love with my Viva Las VegaStamps.  This layout features a few from my latest haul.    The paint blood drips are Fire Engine Flutterby Paint drips that I allowed to dry naturally.  Totally blood like.  I am running low on Charms Creations to I had to ink a purple one to make it more suitable.  I definitely need to stock up.

There will be a process video – it is currently still under construction so make sure you subscribe to POPLEOPOD on YouTube so you don’t miss out.
