Adventure + OH Neigh | Flutterby Design Team Share

Today I am sharing two layouts that pushed the boundaries on the new “Fur-ever Friends” Collection.  I went back and looked through thousands of photos to see which ones had animals in them.  We don’t have any pets so I had to find alternatives.

This is what I came up with.  The first layout is of my daughters first visit to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.  Lone Pine is a small animal sanctuary in the heart of Brisbane.  It is a  great place to take kids at is is not too big and you can get a yearly pass fairly cheap.  That means that you can justify going there and only spending an hour or two at a time makes it easy to tire the kids out and you still have enough money left over for new Scrappy supplies you have been eyeing off in the Flutterby Shop.

I will apologise now for the low light of my photos.  It seems when we have really hot bright days, I cannot photograph layouts.  Stained glass windows look great but are a bitch to work with.  The light just doesn’t work and outside is not an option as our house is painted blue and this really kills any natural light.

Here is my first layout.

To read about the process and products head over to the Flutterby Designs Blog and check it out.

Now on to my next layout.  Another series of photos that I found was this of my first Melbourne Cup as a mother.  I loved Melbourne Cup before kids not that I ever really put on a bet.  But I love fascinators and the excitement.  This is my first time going to a Luncheon and it was great fun.

This whole layout is based around the Oh Neigh card from the “Fur-ever Friends” Everyday Etc Cards.

Well, I hope I have inspired you to use your cards a bit differently.  Please share what you create on the Flutterby Inspiration HQ page.  I’d love to see them.

CSI Challenge #226

This month as part of the Charms Creations Creative Team I was invited to play along with CSI Challenges.  I have played along before and they are great for getting your mind ticking and thinking outside the box.

Here is the challenge:

And here is my take on it.  I took inspiration from a few of the criteria.PicMonkey Collage.jpg

I have been hoarding these chipboard animals for a long while.  My aim this year is to actually use my stash!

Masculine Mixed Media Card

Today I am sharing a Masculine Card I made. The card I created I wanted to be very neutral.  What I mean by neutral is Occasion neutral.  Something that is clearly masculine but could be used for any thing.  This is what I came up with….

It’s not secret I love grunge.  So I created a grungy embossed background that I then layered embossed chipboard over the top before adding a stamped fussy cut image.

The Colour Blast Embossing Powder is super shiny and difficult to photograph.

As for the stamped man, he is from A Stampers Anonymous collection of stamps I recently purchased with this task in mind. I coloured him using the new Colour Blast Shimmer Powders.  I’m not much into fussy cutting but I think I might do it more often as it is a great way to use your stamps.

Spencer and the Crazy Cat lady | Flutterby Designs DT Share

Just  quick share today using the new Flutterby Designs “Fur-ever” friends collection. This was the 8th layout I created from this collection.  I had plans for a layout but then things changed on Saturday.  This layout features my best friends cat, Spencer.  I had planned to make a funny layout but then on Saturday, my BF Sarah, told me Spence was a little bit off and had to make a weekend visit to the vet.  On Monday after a grim diagnosis Spencer was put to sleep.  So I changed my funny layout to something Sarah could hang on her wall.  I framed and delivered it before she got home from work.

For the background I used the “You Spin Me Right Round” Stencil  with some Colour Blast Colour Spray, then stamped over the top for a bit more visual interest.

Here are a few close ups…

Sarah loved it.

Now here is another layout layout I did.  I thought I would never manage to use the cat cards from this collection, then on a day last week when it was close to a MILLION degrees (Queensland summer temperature at 40 degrees celcius) my daughter decided the it was too hot for clothes but totally suitable for a cat beanie.  She wouldn’t wear the damn thing in winter and I have no idea where she got it from but Freaking Crazy is the only way to describe her.

I am Thankful | Guest Designer Share | CSI Challenges

Back in December, as part of Charms Creations Creative Team I was invited to play along with that months CSI Challenges.  I don’t know why but I forgot to share this blog post.  So here it is now.

This was the first Challenge this month:

And this is the layout I came up with:

I’ll be honest, with this layout I pulled out my box of Christmas bits and used up as much of them as I could.  Here are a few close ups:

Beast Mode | Scrap the Boys February Challenge

Today I thought I would play along with the Scrap The Boys Challenge – Something New.

My son’s new hulk mask has us in fits of giggles everytime he wears it.

IMG_7264.JPG

I started off with a piece of Bo Bunny paper and then added some mixed media.  I started with some Colour Blast Heavy White Gesso, then some Shimmer Dust and Colour Sprays.  Followed by some Colour Paste and a bit of stamping.

Finished it all off with some Rainbow Splendour goodies and a Charms Creation Hessian Green Star and done!

There will be a process video to go along with this layout but you will have to keep an eye on POPLEOPOD YouTube Channel for it.
