This month a new challenge was bought to my attention its called the ARTastic Challenge Blog you can read about it here. Plus, I had a girls scrapbooking weekend which actually gave me time to play along.
This is this months challenge: Artwork by Hilda Rix Nicholas called The Summer House.
What I took from this challenge was the word Summer, the blues and oranges and the painting technique itself and this is what I created.
It is a photo of my husband and I when we visited Croatia back at the very end of summer 2008. I drew the colour inspiration from the blues of the sky and ocean and oranges of my husbands t-shirt for the challenge.
I decided to have the photo dead centre of the page and then used some plain cheap texture paste and water colours to create an Impressionist style picture that extends the photo and accentuates the brush strokes of colour.
I am so happy with the finished product. Here are a few more close ups.
I love this texture and colour technique so much I used it for a few more layouts and now I need more texture paste so I can make some more.
Fab take on the challenge, I like that the colours inspired you and I love the texture you have created. Thank you for joining in at ARTastic this month
