Kraft Plus January Challenge

…This blog post was originally shared in January but it was picked up for publishing in Scrapbooking Memories Magazine.  In keeping with their pulishing guideline I had to recall all my sharing of this post until one month after it had been published. We there was a big mess with the publishing. It was published under someone else’s name and my material list also belonged to someone else. It was a bit disappointing. This was the last issue published with Express Publications before the magazine changed hands to Woodland House so let’s just hope the mix up was all confusion and mess up was because everyone was caught up in the hand over. I am now free to share it again…Don’t forget there is a process video too – the link is at the end.

…Call me crazy with six design team commitments and SBM Masters deadlines but I still can’t resist some of the awesome challenges that are around this month.  As much as I would like to have a go at all of them I am realistic and know I can’t, so I’ve saved a screenshot for future inspiration.

As I write this it is the morning of the 31 January, cutting it fine for entering but I actually have another challenge half done on my desk that I hope (fingers crossed) to finish today and get blogged by tonight.  Wish me luck.

Anyhow, here is my entry into this months Kraft Plus – Handwriting challenge.  You are required to include your handwriting on your layout along with the standard Kraft requirement.  For my handwriting requirement, I’ve written my sons name all over the Kraft before building the background and then I added my hand written journalling.

I love the neutral colours the whole layout has turned out very masculine which I am really happy with.  I don’t want his album to be full of “baby” layouts.

I’ve layered gesso and Colour Blast texture paste and some Colour Blast embossing powder too. To add texture (of course), I’ve add two of my favourite things…Gyprock tape and thread.  The large cloud is from Charms Creations DIY collection and the Dream Big silver foil flair is from Flutterby DesignsFlutterby Designs.  The tag is a recycled clothes tag from Cotton on Kids.  I am always on the look out for things that can be altered to suit my layouts.  The wood veneer hello is from a Heidi Swapp collection that I picked up on a Garage Sale Facebook Site and the #handsome is from D-lish Scraps.

Here is the correct materials list too incase you’re interested: Materials List:

Kraft Cardstock, A/C Cardstock Embellishments: Colour Blast Colour Paste, Colour Blast Embossing Powder, Gesso, gyprock tape, twine, thread, D-lish Scraps mini wordfetti, Heidi Swapp wood Veneer, D-lish Scraps wood Veneer, Charms Creations Cloud, Cloud stickers, Flutterby Designs Foil Flair, Wood veneer plane, staples, punchinella,  recycled clothes tag.

I also have a process video to load to my Popleopod YouTube channel so keep an eye out for that too.
