DIY Enamel Dots – For all Scrapbookers

There has been the recent trend of melting pony/hama beads to make enamel dots.  There has also been talk that this process can produce toxic fumes. I remember reading a comment on a Facebook post from a scientist saying – Please do not do it especially with small children present. Now, I know there is risk with everything that you do (especially when Californian law now requires a warning that a lot if not all products could cause cancer) but why add more possible harm.

So, I have worked out a way to make my own enamel dots.  They are fully customisable and you should have all the things you need to make them in your stash plus no fumes.

You need: A non stick sheet (mine is an ironing sheet from the fabric store), markers, inks, gelatos and the magic ingredient – HOT GLUE.  It is trial and error with the colouring.  I found gelatos weren’t very bright but markers and paints worked a treat.

Here is my Youtube video to get you started:

Do note: its addictive
