This month over at Scrap the Boys the moodboard was a little different. It was a simple photo of a mason jar with words about boys and their mummas. The rules were a bit different too. Rather than a boys only photo, the photo this month could include mum. I was only going to do a photo of Leo but then I changed my mind when the layout was coming together. Here is the Moodbard here…
I liked the words but they were a bit too generic for me. So, I decided to write my own and what I feel. My mum often makes statements to me like, “Do you remember…” or “when their all grown up you’ll wish…” It makes me worried I will forget. My kids are all less than three years old and their is so much I have forgotten unless prompted by the thousands of photos or videos I have thanks to the invention of the iPhone. I take photos of my kids daily. Not each of them everyday but everyday I take atleast one photo of one of them. I don’t often take photos of me and them. I am always the one behind the camera. So, with this moodboard, I am making the promise to myself to get more photos of me with my kids. Even if they are cheesy selfies. At least it shows I was there.
For this layout I used the blue colour of the picture and teamed it up with some yellow just because blue and yellow go well together. I included a mason jar that I hand carved as for the life of me I cannot find my Dear Lizzy one that is somewhere “safe”. I remember thinking “I’m going to lose that” so I put it in a safe place. I filled the jar with X’s and O’s for hugs and kisses. I included some in the background to tie it all together too. My background is done with gelatos and turned out better than I expected. Rather than hand writing my words, I typed them up on my recently acquired typewriter thanks so a wonderful friend and her dad who kept everything. I love that it is a cursive type rather than just standard typewriter font. The layout was finished off with some hand dyed gauze, a Charms Creation X and a Flutterby Designs Flair.
So beautiful and perfect balanced!!…Thanks for joining us at STB
