Scrap the Boys – Moodboard Challenge July 2015

I needed a kick to start creating more Boy layouts rather than all girly ones.  It is hard, I have two girls and two is more than one but I take so many photos of the little man that are all just sitting on the computer and need to be in Albums.

That’s why I decided I need to make an effort – so this is why I created this layout for Scrap the Boys.  You have to scrap boys.  This is this months moodboard… What do you think?

My initial thoughts were these colours are not really going to work with boys but they do.  Especially if you only use a black and white picture.  Nothing clashes then.

I pulled out my huge box of gelatos and created a inky textured back ground then stenciled some black Stayzon on ink through a Mr Hueys graph Stencil.  I added some line work using the sprayer from my Dylusions Ink.  I haven’t used it like that before and I love the way that it turned out.

For more texture I used thread and a large paper cluster made in the same colours.  I added in the blue pattered paper for something a bit different and the gold drawings on it are different modes of Transport.  I think that it also fits with the quote Young Souls Run Wild and Free.  This quote also makes me think of Adventures hence my title.  It was a last minute decision to make the layout look like a letter by adding Dear Son and Love Mum, one that I may change if I had to do it again.  It works, it looks cute and it captures my hand writing on the layout but I’m not 100% loving it. Oh, and one think I learnt by doing this…Make sure your pen actually works before you start otherwise you have to commit and do it with a fine liner.

The other things I used, Charms Creation + sign but I turned it on the side to make a X.  The Flair is from Studio Fourteen40.

Here is the finished layout.

You can see me create this whole layout is 10 Seconds here… (If only pages came together that quickly in real life.)
