Today I want to share a layout I created for the submission theme “Travel” for Scrapbooking Memories Magazine. It wasn’t accepted to be published and to be honest I knew it wouldn’t be as it’s way too busy for their style but it turned out exactly as I pictured it. I am grateful for the prompt. It made me dig out my hard drives and go through the pictures I have packed away and relive the experiences my husband and I had on our two year overseas adventure. That part of our lives seems so very long ago especially since our lives became full of children.
I wanted to record specific memories on the layout because to be honest, since having babies some of my travel memories have been squashed and squeezed to the back of my mind by baby memories. I don’t want to forget them. (I’m so worried about forgetting. What am I going to be like at eighty!?!)
I went for something a little different with this one. It’s a double page, something I rarely do these days. I have gone down the path recently of one photo per layout. I used to hate one photo layouts but recently I seem to be enjoying them. I wanted this layout to look a bit like a cork board with ideas pinned up but I also wanted to use the awesome foil print world paper from Studio Calico that I have been hoarding. I used a whole heap of 2×2 photos that capture different places we visited along the way. This is by no means all of the places we travelled nor my absolute favourites but these are some of the best stories. And yes, they are all 100% true. We were stalked by wolves and electrocuted by a monkey! Enjoy and do let me know what you think. Have a great day!
The gold foil is very hard to photograph. Here are close ups of each page…
